It took exactly 224 days, about 8 months, but I've finally done it. I folded and hung up 1000 paper cranes. I made a senzaburu. I actually made 1000 a while ago, but after using some for the gift, I had to fold a couple hundred more. It turns out, as I was stringing together the last hundred, I was missing one more crane. So I folded it, and made a wish on it. According to legend, it's guarenteed to come true. I hope it does.

Even if it doesn't. I still get to wake up and see this every morning (as long as I'm a home of course haha).

Permitted Driver

I forced my Mom to drive me out to Braintree, but I passed the test and got my permit on the 10th. Finally today my Dad took me driving today and let me drive all the way back home. It was freaking awesome. It's so freeing! (Especially since the price of getting around on the T sucks ass now...)

OH! And I flew a kite today! Just another thing to cross off my list! WOOOOOOOOOO!

Welcome Summer!

Funny how on the first day of summer the weather suddenly spikes up to 100 or so degrees, huh?

I hate it.

It's too hot to go outside or even do anything! That's why I went to the beach yesterday instead haha.
I biked with my friend Lexy all the way to Malibu Beach, then Carson Beach, the Boston Public Library in Copley, and finally back home in like 5 hours. I played on some swings, laid on the beach, desperately tried to fly a kite to cross off my bucket list - to no avail (I stupidly assembled it the wrong way), and returned a "lost" book to the library saving me $26 on my bill. It was a very fun, active day in my opinion. We biked an average of 20 miles (without helmets - yes, we're rebels). And we even saw a few friends along the way :) By the last leg of the trip our asses were sore and we were sweaty and tired, but we felt very accomplished in the end - we didn't give up and just take the train or bus back home. Plus we got a great workout from it!
It may still be uncomfortable sitting down and my legs may be a bit tired but it was a day well spent.

Today on the other hand, was disgusting. I had an interview with the manager of a bakery/restaurant I applied to at the worst possible time of day: noon. I was sweating in my professional wear mere minutes after stepping outside. Luckily by the time I got there the manager was still talking to another interviewee so I got the chance to cool down near the A.C. I don't feel too confident about how it went. I hesitated when answering some questions and I have no professional experience whatsoever, but he said I have a good chance of getting a job working at the counter. I just have to do a second interview with the head baker. If I'm lucky and if he sees some potential in me, he may even teach me a few things in the back in the actual bakery. I really hope so...

Sigh, it was so nerve-wracking today. I don't know if I can do that again.. with the person who actually might be able to take me in and teach me a few things about the bakery business. And if I don't get the job I'll have to keep looking...

I'm sweating already. Then again that may just be because it's still 87 degrees here.

Halfway There

I've strung together and hung up 500 paper cranes so far. I'm halfway to the finished product, to Senbazuru.

Cappuccino Art

The cappuccino. It is made with equal parts of espresso and steamed milk. The foam from the milk is what people make art with! I just think that's so cool.

I really want to spend a day at a coffeehouse. I don't drink coffee but I'd like to meet a barista that can show me all the wonderful (non coffee) drinks there are to get. I want to meet a barista much like the one in this comic by Kiki Jones... minus the whole jumping out of lockers thing lol.

I really want a garter tattoo.
But not an actual lace garter design, I want it to have the theme of the Greek goddess Athena like with a helmet and an owl and a tiger lily or geraniums (apparently they're her flower symbols) and of course with some stars (in honor of my bestie). I want it to wrap around my mid/lower thigh. Maybe those symbols could be on top of the Greek key pattern?

But it's so hard to think of a design to link all of those images together that I sort of just want to give up and get a lacey garter tattoo haha. Those don't look too bad either though :)
Notice that they're all on white skin.... -_-
And I'd only have it on my left leg.

Bows are cute, but the bows on the ones that I've seen look tacky. So, idk. I need to think it through a bit more. Plus if that's the first time I get a tattoo, I'm not sure how long I'd last sitting there getting stabbed with a  needle...

One of these days.. :)

I'm 19 paper cranes away from 1000... and after all this time I still don't know what to wish for.

Recently.

Pro: Today my friends and I went to the mall - an event I planned so that we could all hang out together.

Con: I spent a lot of money on unnecessary stuff.

Pro: I got my favorite perfume from Victoria's Secret (along with some others), a slice of my favorite cake from the Cheesecake Factory, and a copy of my favorite movie Spirited Away.
(Owning a copy is actually on my bucket list so... CHECK!!!)

Con: I don't know if I'll have enough money to go shopping for a new wardrobe with YMS in the upcoming weekend! D:

Pro: Part of the money I've spent recently went to the Invisible Children charity :)

Con: At the end of our shopping trip my friends left in a cab and abandoned me at the mall... Luckily two of them had come in a car so they picked me up. But still... -_-

Pro: Once I finish this essay for Expos, study for Bio, and read for Anthro, I will be 3 hours of classes away from Spring Break.

Con: I'm not excited about my plans for Spring Break anymore.

Pro: I got invited to Lizzzzzzz's fashion show at school!

Con: Her older sister, my best friend, has not talked to me since Monday.

I'm just... ehh, not in the best mood. It may be my way of trying to forgive my friends for leaving me, but I feel... numb, like I have no emotion at all. I want to leave school.. but I still don't want to go home. I'm stuck, sigh.

On the bright side, I'm starting to make more friendship bracelets. I'm working on this watermelon one right now, it's pretty freaking awesome :)

Things We'll Do

1. Make a fort out of pillows and sheets & spend the night in it with him.
2. Get a piggy-back ride from him.
3. Slow dance.

My Second List

I also have this other list that isn't nearly as long... It's a relationship list lol. Things that I want to do with my boyfriend whoever they are and whenever they show up.

First thing's first. In my lifetime I would like to date an Asian guy and a white guy. It's just that overtime guys of those two races have been the ones that I've seemed to fall for more often lol. They're just.. hawt! It'd be nice to actually have a relationship with one. Or you know, just let me do the dirty with Brian Puspos, that would work too ;)

South Korean band ss501

Ryan Gosling, of course

The problem with this picture though is that those clothes are covering up his lovely body... lol

Secondly, I would like to have sex with a firefighter/fireman. Call me crazy but the ones I've seen have all been pretty hot (granted they were in movies... LOL). Either way I would definitely have fun with their rippling muscles.. haha.

Third. Forehead kiss. I want my boyfriend to give me a kiss on the forehead... in the rain lol. Just kidding, kissing in the rain gets its own bullet lmao. But seriously, forehead kisses are uber cute.

Fourth. Makeout with a skateboarder. For some reason I think they're really hot. sigh*

Fifth. I'd like my boyfriend to write me a love letter. It's cute... o^-^o

Sixth. I want to buy walkie talkies and use them to talk to my boyfriend all night long! (Cell phones are so traditional lol.)

And actually that's all I have on this list for now. But I'm sure when I get a boyfriend we'll find more things to do... Not that, you nasties! lol :)

My List

I've been thinking about things that I want to do recently. And the death of that girl who went to my school, Ashley Donahue (rest in peace), really made me think about how quickly your life can be taken away. It brought me back to my list of things to do before I die and I've revised it. Some of the things on my old list were pretty out there lol.

Christina Joseph's List of Things to Do Before I Die
(aka Bucket List)
  1. See the 7 Wonders of the World.
(When looking up the list online there were lots of variations so I just listed the places that sounded most interesting and I guess I can just travel to seven... or more; the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu, the Roman Colesseum, the Taj Mahal, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Temple of Artemis, Victoria Falls, Paricutin Volcano, the Aurora in Alaska, the salt flat at Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia during the rainy season, and the Grand Canyon.)

  3. Go on a road trip across America.
  4. Build a snow fort.
  5. Own a dog.

  10. Own a copy of Spirited Away.

Floating Lanterns

They're absolutely beautiful...

I had lots of fun on my sleepover with Honeybee :) I watched Tangled and it turned out to be a really good movie! A major symbol in the movie was those floating lanterns. I've never actually seen one before in real life but I'd love to make one some day.
