The Power of Family

This is a revised memoir I wrote back in October 2008 about my grandparents and their old house. I took the first draft I wrote, Nostalgia House, and turned it into a story. Enjoy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is a special day. It’s Papa Joe's birthday. I don't know exactly how old he’s turning, but it’s definitely a high number. Most grandpas don’t get to reach the ages that mine has. My mom, who is making final adjustments to her hair, is just about ready. I had, as accustomed, been sitting on the toilet seat watching as she unnecessarily applied makeup to her already beautiful face. I follow her as she and her heels click down the stairs. The rest of my family, my Dad, my brother Malcolm, and my sister Dinah, are in the kitchen waiting. My mom opens the door and we follow her outside and into the car in line like good little ducklings. I am squished in the back between Malcolm and Dinah as always. The baby of the family never seems to get the window seat. The sleek black car slowly creeps out of the driveway and onto the main road. We turn into the long, winding street surrounded by a sea of gravestones. We have been down these roads leading to Gran and Papa Joe’s house so many times. Almost instantly I find that we are climbing up the hill of Westmore Road. I look around at all the houses I’ve seen almost 100 times before. I smile as I see familiar faces and cars in the distance next to that big white and green two-family house. Daddy parks across the street and we make our way into the old memorable home exchanging hugs and planting soft kisses on cheeks. It seems like a thousand creaky stairs to the top, but we get there at last.
The door at the top is wide open, as if the whole house is inviting us in. We make our way through the rooms all mapped with loud, creaky hardwood floors and clustered with people giving our hellos only to end up in our little groups. In the kitchen, Gran helped by a couple of my Aunts are finishing up cooking a meal. There’s an opening to a miniature, closet like room to the right of the stove. Here the sink lies half full with the dishes used to make the big meal. The spices and such are stored in small cabinets. Back in the main part of the kitchen, the refrigerator stands tall beside the left wall. So many times before have I played with its colorful magnets. Next to it hangs a lonely window often unnoticed. On the far wall is a mysterious door that leads down to the back door and a labyrinth of basement halls. I was once so excited to finally go down those dark stairs behind. Straight ahead next to the right wall rests a worn wooden table draped with a colorful plastic cover. Grandpa often sat there listening to the radio on other days. Now, other adults, some of my many relatives, sit in the chairs at the table holding a conversation. In the next room, the guest bedroom, a baby usually slept or an elder was giving a minor stern words of advice. In the main room, also called the dining room, there is a big table, a case holding precious plates to the right, and two big windows half hidden by some of the many chairs around. Other adults relax and slip into various bubbling conversations. All the younger generation of kids and teenagers including Malcolm, Dinah, and I gather in the living room. We sit on the big beige couches or in one of the chairs in the corner. We sit in a loose circle around the rectangular wood and glass coffee table talking about school or funny memories. There are a few windows covering the far wall giving a view of the street. Several small tables hold up shapely lamps. A TV in a wooden case moodily sits unused for a big portion of the evening. There are enormous jigsaw puzzles finished by Papa Joe and my now deceased uncle Anthony some long time ago hung carefully in plastic along the walls. The second guest bedroom, to the left, is mostly still and dark. I don’t know why, but people don’t really go in there. As the night lengthens, we mill around and eat delicious homemade food. People go in and out of the small, single, blue tiled bathroom throughout the night. I end up wandering into Gran and Papa Joe’s room. I marvel at the wall of piled suitcases which cut the room in half wondering for the millionth time why they’re there. I walk around the bed to get a look at the things Gran has posted on the wall. I fill with joy and pride knowing that she kept her birthday gift from me (a picture of me) hanging on the wall for all to see. I walk back around towards the door, but sit on their bed ogling at all the knick-knacks scattered atop their dresser. I know that in one of those drawers Papa Joe keeps a stash of savory strawberry candies he gives out whenever his grandchildren come for a visit. I turn on their TV, joined by a few cousins, and watch quietly waiting for the cake. No one yells or tells us to get out.
Out the corner of my eye I see Mommy surrounded by some Aunts come from the kitchen with a glowing square in her arms. We all hurry into the main room just before the singing starts. With all of us packed in that one room, I swear the sense of love and togetherness and family can be felt a mile away. Papa Joe blows out the candles. A champagne bottle is popped and some sticky fizz is spilled on his head, as tradition calls for in out family. Loud claps vibrate the air. The cake is cut. Everyone in the room has a genuine smile on. Jokes are made, laughter is shared. In the two hours afterwards, cake is eaten and tin foil is passed around for people to take food home. Relatives slowly drip out the door one clan at a time. When it's our turn to leave, I give Gran and Papa Joe each a hearty hug and a warm kiss. I wave bye to the remaining family and walk down the countless creaky stairs. We load into the car and I stare out the window feeling the all-around good vibe of the car as we drive home. Every time I spend time with my grandparents, they teach me important life lessons, whether they know it or not. They teach me how to love and that family should mean good times and being yourself.
Awful Stories
For some reason my mom thinks that I, a dog lover, would enjoy listening to a bunch of stories about how owners have wrongfully killed their dogs...
Why, mom? WHY?
 D':
Drinking with the broski...
I know I'm over thinking things but let me update you real quick.
Tonight my brother and I went to visit our cousins who live down the street. Calzone, uno, jenga, moscato... It was fun. We tried to play 13 (a Vietnamese card game) but none of us knew the rules for sure and my brother didn't believe us when my cousin and I said he couldn't do a certain move. So while he googled the rules, I decided to ask one of my Viet friends - Jay haha. He didn't know how to play, but we had a text convo about spring break and kings (the drinking card game) and how he should have a few drinks for me on Friday at his birthday party. He replied with this:
"I will x] next semester let's have fun!!! I'm not your RA, but your friend okay!?!?! Will mean a lot to me"
Again, I know I'm overthinking this but.. doesn't that sound like he means something more? Like he wanted to hang out and do stuff this year but couldn't because of his position? Idk. I guess we really are just friends. Or at least that's what I've reduced our relationship to (after not really talking to him for those few weeks after my embarrassing drunken vomiting night..).
If anything I made it more clear that we're just friends by saying of course, but that he'll have to help a FRIEND out and give me a ride haha.
Whatever, I'm over him. He's a great guy, but it's better that we're just friends, ya know? Besides, I'm down to party anytime. Especially next year when I'll be 21. And he'll be a graduate with a car. It just sounds like an all around good time lol. I can't wait.
Hello, 2013.
Hi.
It's been a while since I've gotten a chance to sit down and honestly blog. I appologize for those who actually pay attention to my posts, my laptop was in hibernation. But I'm back now, don't worry!
I have so many pictures to post! But those will have to wait, I guess.
Here's the quick summary of these past few weeks:
Wreck-It Ralph was an awesome movie - go see it, made a vase (one more thing crossed off my list), secret Santa with my friends, watercolor set and fuzzy socks, attractive card given to Jay, mildly depressed, passed classes with an A, a B+, and a C+ but am still on academic probation...what.the.fuck..., art and next level psych course next semester, YMS potluck, reached limit with sister, Korean restaurant, thrift shopping, loneliness, The Book Thief, LUSH, friendship bracelets, sugar cookies, New Years with the gang plus Lexy, sick, hospital with mom - confessions, parallel parking, Mike's Pastry and wall walking with Twinn - heart2heart, shopping with sister, new dress, possible plans with Jay.... and I think that's it.
Except for the fact that I'm going to California in a few days to visit Johnny. It's finally happening. Operation Johnny is nearly complete. I've been feeling... down lately all semester long. This trip should do me some good.
Oh, and I deleted Star from my friends. But that's a story for another time.
Right now I plan on cleaning up my room, maybe do a little packing, and stay up to practice my watercolor painting. And maybe I'll stay up to watch the sunrise. Just because.
2012 was such a bad year for me, the only thing I hope is that 2013 will be better.
My resolution? I don't know. But I did buy another journal to keep writing in, that could be one thing..
Driving my tipsy parents and friend back home from a party in Randolph at 3 in the morning (with only my permit). CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
And just so you know, we got home safe and sound :)
Winter Break
While my siblings go out clubbing, my mom spends her night in church, and my dad sleeps the night away, I'll be in the kitchen making up for all the time lost in my kitchen-less dorm in Framingham. Two pasta meals, chocochip cookies, and cupcakes. And of course I'll be making some sugar cookies on Christmas eve :D At least I'm keeping busy so it doesn't seem so sad that I'm spending my Saturday night doing... nothing... with no one. Yay!
Sunday Dinner
My family - my whole family, including my sister - came up to see me and have dinner tonight :)
As annoying as they can get, I must admit that I did miss them. Plus, it was nice to eat some actual good-tasting food for once...
I can't remember the last time we've done anything like that. I'm glad I could bring them all together, if only once in a blue moon. And since we didn't get that much time to talk, Malcolm is planning on coming up on Tuesday to have breakfast with me. Fun :)
Keep staying positive and things will turn out okay, Christina. Things will get better.. eventually.
Home
I'm back home in my bed. And I sort of wish that I weren't. I mean, it's nice to see my family and to relax for a bit, but there's a reason why I'm only staying for a day. I can't deal with them all again. Plus, at least I got food to eat at school! I came back and there was nothing to eat -_-
On the bright side, I got three more of the books I ordered. One of which is The Book Thief. I'm excited about that one.
Oh, and apparently my dad switched up my room like the day after I moved out so it looks odd. But I still have all my stuff so it's okay. I did have to move my cranes though. They were being blocked by the dresser. I like them in their new spot though. There's lots of light to showcase my hard work :)
Brunch, Beach, & Bowling
That's what I did today. I met up with my good friend Rose and we caught up on each others' lives. So much I missed... Time does wonders, I swear. We flipped through pages filled with memories. We ate a greasy, yet absolutely delightful brunch at McKenna's Cafe in Dorchester. I'd definitely go there again. My meal was heavenly. We laid in the sun at Malibu Beach. We saw a middle-aged hipster with a bear chest wearing a fedora. We talked until we turned around and the tide was suddenly at our toes. We reminisced. It felt good. Too bad she's now all the way in Pennsylvania. She left for school tonight. I'll miss her hugs and quirky personality. Until Winter...
 Then I met up with my cousins to go bowling. We ate more greasy food. I whooped their butts :) We took pictures in the photo booth (it's tradition). Then we went to the arcade and got tattoos and Tootsie Frooties with tickets some random guy kept giving away to my cousin. Day well spent.
I think most of my apprehension towards going back to school stems from me possibly missing days like this, spent with family and old friends... That and my strong aversion to Framingham. And doubts whether I'll succeed or not this semester. That's all. I just have to leap into it. Forget all my worries and just do what I do... hopefully.
There was a playground at that beach so I got to play on the swings! n_n
It was my idea for us to get matching tattoos. Don't we look tough now? That's a true "Gang" right there lol.
Summary&Doubt
Got a stack of library books I can't wait to read. Two new friendship bracelets started. Received a friendship bracelet from a friend! Getting financial and academic stuff worked out - slowly, but surely. Still haven't gotten my books yet though... Went to a popular little Italian restaurant in Rossi Square (Delfino) with my parents today. They can't dine in fancy restaurants -_-  Ate a bit too much ice cream. Still working on watching How I Met Your Mother. In the 4th season now. Still funny. Still have a list of movies to watch online. Still have to finish hanging those last 300 paper cranes. Still would like to finish that 1000 piece puzzle that I never finished. Would like to do a lot that I probably won't be able to before school starts up :/
Meeting my new roommate tomorrow for lunch. Then work. I really hope tomorrow is a good day...
An old picture I took. It fits the theme of the rest of this post..
I hope I'll be okay when September comes around. For some reason I feel like I'm on a ledge, moments away from something horrible. Maybe it's fear all this work will be for nothing.
Maybe it's fear of failing again. Of failing friendships, family, schoolwork - above all, of failing myself... again. I want things to be different. I want to be in a good place where I can feel good about all that I've done and all that I am. I don't want that confident person I was to slip away.
I'm trying.
I'll hold on this time. I'll get myself together.
How I Met Your Mother
I've been watching this show for the past couple of weeks now and I'm surprised that it's so good! I'm in the second season now and there have been a couple episodes that I couldn't stop laughing at. Season 2, episodes 5 ("World's Greatest Couple") and 16 ("Stuff") are my absolute favorites so far.
No wonder it's been going on for seven seasons now, it's so funny! Neil Patrick Harris, of course, has a huge part in that. He basically makes the show :) He's an amazing actor too, I never would've guessed he was gay had I not read it online previously.
So, today hasn't been legendary, but it was pretty fun. I drove around with my Mom for more than an hour and she barely yelled at me! She even let me drive her, her friend, and my Grandmama to go visit my Grandpa. I think she's starting to trust me in her car haha. She said that all I need to do now is practice parallel parking and I'll be all set for the driver's test to get my license. True story.
I didn't suit up, but I did wear this
White bedazzled BEBE tank, plaid vest, mini cargo shorts (Victoria's Secret), and silver hoop earrings.
While leaving PriceRite with my Mom I saw someone I went to middle school with working there! Talk about blast from the past...
For those of you who don't really know me, I love candy. For some reason I've been on this sugar craze lately so I've been buying and eating lots of candy. It's probably not the best for my teeth or health in general, but whatevs. I plan on working it all off by riding my bike or jogging or something later. I got a bag of these guys today
I have no idea what makes them have more of a pretzel taste, but they taste great anyway. They're probably my favorite out of the whole M&M's brand.
Oh, I hung out with my babies today too. More like watched over them while they snacked on the grass in the lawn...
My guinea pigs. Pancake on the left and Puff on the right.
And one last thing. I found out who my new roommate is! She lives like 10 minutes away from me! Hopefully we can meet up and get to know each other before school starts. The only thing is... I think she's a freshman. Technically I'm in that category too because I didn't get credits for some of my classes, but I think it'll be fun. I can show her around and stuff :)
And that's all in a day of being Cjoe. I'm filled with awesomeness, I know. It's really hard to contain it all when I write these posts haha.
Mah Daii
The only noteworthy thing I did today was go around driving with my Mom. Horrible. Not me, just driving with her in the car next to me in general. I'm not sure if it's because she didn't teach anyone of her kids to drive (that's my Dad's "job") or because it's her car and she's extremely scared that I'll crash it, but she is the worst driving instructor. And she has a horrible case of back-seat driver too.
Anyway, I'd planned to go to the library and eat cupcakes and do a bunch of fun stuff today but since I've still yet to receive my first paycheck, I'm stuck doing things that involve spending the least amount of money possible (ie. staying home). So I drove around to the bank, other stores, and my Grandmama's residence home with my Mom. Maybe she doesn't understand that yelling at me every 15 seconds doesn't help me... Or maybe I should just take my Dad's advice. The first day he took me out driving he told me that the way he learned how to drive was he just took his father's car and drove off. I think he was implying that I should take my Mom's car and just go lol.
Even though I mostly sat in hot car, I wore a very cute outfit out today.
Me with a moo-stache. I think it's a good look...
Peach/light orange cotton tee with detailed shoulder and sleeves, black bow miniskirt (H&M), beaded chandelier earrings, and a black bow in my hair.
I'd been craving sweet&sour Twizzlers and watermelon Sour Patches so I was sooo happy when I finally got them. The chocolate Rice Krispies Treat was just an extra perk. They probably weren't the best thing to be eating but I think I deserve it :p
You know that moment when your voice cracks and you know you're screwed because you can't hold in your tears anymore?
Yeah. That's what happened.
I finally told my parents about my academic standing today and a quarter of the way into it I couldn't keep it together anymore so I just started crying. It's not even because they were yelling at me or anything. Aside from a few of my Mom's ignorant comments, they were actually very supportive. I believe I broke down because one, the person I failed the most was myself (I was the one beating myself up about it and calling myself a failure all along), and two, I'd never actually spoken the words aloud to anyone before that moment - that's when it became a hardened reality.
But anyway, like I said, they were very supportive about it. I guess I'd expected them to just yell at me for a few hours or something. And though it took 20 minutes for my Dad to say anything, the second he opened his mouth to give me encouraging advice I started crying all over again. For some reason when he said it, my parents' support seemed so much more... validated. It seems almost wrong. But whatever. I'm not here to talk about gender roles.
I told them. I didn't die. I know what I need to do to succeed next semester. All that's standing in the way now is time.
A Peace of Other Things
I gave the gift.
I couldn't ring the doorbell and hand it to someone - anyone - in person though. Partially because I have no idea which doorbell to ring for the first floor of the apartment because they aren't clearly labeled, and partially because by the time I walked down that familiar street I was too anxious to do anything other than place it on the porch and leave. Still, I have this comfortable sort of halcyon air about me now. I feel like I can finally let the whole thing go. It wasn't a gift to say goodbye, that's not really was I was going for. It was a cross between an "I'm sorry for swearing at you like that, that's not me" and a "I hope someday we can be friends again - just not now because I need to remind myself that I don't need you and... that you don't need my help, ....okay?". All of that in a few words and hours of paper folding enclosed in a bottle, nice huh?
I can't say I feel as good about all the other things.
Yes I got a job, but I don't feel very confident about being good at it. And yes I ran practice for YMS on Sunday but I can't say that things will go as smoothly for all of YMS come the end of the summer... And no, I've not told my parents yet about my... academic standing. I swear I'll tell them early next month. Hopefully they won't go ape-shit. I mean, I'll be making some sort of small income so I can help pay for stuff so I won't be such a waste of space and money, right?
Sigh.
I enjoy being outside a lot more. I like sitting outside feeling the breeze and the sun and, at night, looking up at the sky. It's... peaceful. I wish I could have more moments like that. I wish my whole life could feel like that haha.
I... don't love my sister.
The only feelings I have towards her are negative to be honest.
If only people knew what it was like growing up with her. She never spent time with me and when she did it was only because she was forced to. She didn't like me.
She's disrespectful, rude, inconsiderate... Sigh. I hate to say this about my only sister in life, the only other female who has the same familial blood as me, but I can't lie. I don't know her at all. And from the few instances we interact and communicate, I'm not sure I want to.
One day when I was younger, Dinah did something that really hurt me (I couldn't tell you what it was but there were lots of times like those) so I found this picture and tore it in half. I couldn't stand the sight of it. Of course later on I taped it back together because I felt bad..
We're so cute. How could we end up like this now?
Sunday, July 8, 2012
Nice.
I knew people probably wouldn't hire me since I'd only be working for less than 2 months. And here my mom's blaming it on the outfit I chose to wear. Because nothing I ever do is right, right? -_-
Yesterday I got called in for an interview later today. YES!
I rode my bike to the beach again yesterday. Except this time I was alone. It was fairly enjoyable. I just felt stupid going on the swings by myself at Malibu beach... Anyway I brought a lot of stuff to occupy myself with at Carsen but soon after I got settled on my blanket in the sand I felt raindrops. I knew it was going to rain, but I thought it'd start later in the afternoon. That's why I left my house so early! I only got to spent like 15 minutes at the beach. I decided it was better to just leave then rather than try to wait it out and possibly get caught in a horrible rain storm so I packed up my stuff and got ready to leave. Then I saw my English teacher from senior year... weird. We made small talk and rode our separate ways. Somewhere along the ride back home though I lost the bag I put my sweaty clothes and bikini bottoms in. I turned around and the other bag I had was falling off the back of my bike. I didn't see it down the street (Columbia Road - it's a very long road...) and I'd already ridden such a long way so I just adjusted the other bag and kept riding. I didn't think anyone would want a bag of sweaty clothes anyway.
I made two containers full of yummy fruit salad too :)
Then I came back home and got frustrated way too quick when my dad started asking questions about how to use Facebook. Sigh, I'm pretty sure it's too late for him to learn all this stuff. It's hopeless. He'll just forget what I told him the next day and ask all over again -_-
The Technology Barrier...that's what separates my dad from understanding how to use the computer like me and other people in my generation.
July 4th
I didn't get to hang out with the Gang (my cousins) and see the fireworks downtown like I usually get to this year. Sucks, but whatever. I caught a few fireworks behind trees from a  few blocks away. Just as good I guess. I spent the majority of my afternoon trying out a new recipe. Cabbage soup. It didn't taste that bad actually. And it was very healthy.
I put cabbage, carrots, celery, rice, pinto and black beans, garlic, tomato sauce, and a bunch of other herbs and spices in it. Most of the time spent on it came from making vegetable stock from scratch since all we had at home was chicken broth. It took a lot of time, effort, and sweat, but it was a success. My mom even tried it, though she said she wouldn't go vegetarian with me.
Later as we were watching the fireworks in the neighborhood, my mom and I saw the moon rise. It was orange. While my mom kept gushing about how pretty it was, all I could think about is how all the smoke and pollution from the Earth's atmosphere made it look that way. How disgusting humans are! How stupid and prideful Americans can be obnoxiously celebrating a single holiday! Sigh, I honestly can't see things ending well for us. It's only a matter of time...
Anyway, the night ended with me and my mom driving around Boston, then leaving when it started pouring. Eventful? Not really, but I got to do a little bonding with my mom. Since she's currently taking time off work, we have more time to do stuff. I talk to her a bit more everyday.
Oh, and on Tuesday I put together a cute little outfit to go grocery shopping with my mom.
Cargo kapris, white tank top, cropped jean jacket, and silver hoop earrings.
I may not have all the clothes I'd like to wear, but I think I'm doing fine with what I have. Fashionnnnn!
Weekend & Family
This weekend was very eventful. I didn't get to see Ted unfortunately, but I did have fun. On Friday YMS had a sort of bonding event where we made crepes. Even though I didn't put any ham or bacon or even nutella in mine, they tasted good. (Yes, to all you skeptics out there, I am still temporarily vegetarian. I haven't had any Meat Days this past week either...) We played board games until 2 in the morning so of course when I got home I received some dirty looks.
My parents left for some gala in NY early Saturday morning so they weren't home when I woke up. I hitched a ride with my sister to go to my cousin's son's 1st birthday party. That was one of the most awkward car rides I have ever been in. By now it should be obvious that my sister and I don't have a very good relationship. We rode in silence most of the 30 minute ride there. Eventually she asked me how my first year of college went - a tender spot for me, but I answered truthfully (without mentioning that I failed or my current academic status), that the sciences were difficult because I never really learned how to study in high school, I suck at Chemistry, and that everything else I have the ability to do but never did because I wasn't motivated. And that was the end of any talking for the rest of the ride. Very, very awkward.. I was scared that the entire weekend would be like that because my parents were away but then I remembered Malcolm would still be at home. I don't like to talk to him much anymore but it's still better than those awkward moments with my sister...
I know something's wrong when I can't communicate with my sister normally.
Earlier that day she came home crying because of this hair treatment she'd gotten done at the salon. She went straight to the bathroom and at first I thought she thought I wasn't home. I quieted in my room to check if she really was crying or I had heard wrong. She was and I didn't know what to do. I was stuck between wanting to go to the bathroom to ask what was wrong and wanting to hide in my room so that I wouldn't see her cry. She came out and asked me to check if her scalp was burned anywhere. It wasn't. I watched as she downed a few Ibuprofen and tried to explain. Apparently she was crying because her head felt like it was on fire. She went back downstairs to scour the internet to find out if this happened to other people too... and I stayed upstairs. I quickly tried to look up information on the treatment she'd gotten. It had something to do with a chemical. I figured her head felt that way because it'd been a while since she'd put chemicals in it. So I went downstairs to tell her that - but only in passing. I didn't stop to sit down with her and tell her to her face, I walked past the living room where she was to the kitchen where I called out my opinion to her. And she responded by entering the kitchen, going to the fridge, looking inside and replying to the food in there. We never made eye contact. After she corrected me I didn't know what to say or do so I just said "Oh" and went back upstairs to take a shower. But I left the door open a bit so I'd be able to hear her or so that she could come in if she needed to. In the end she found a video on Youtube of some girl who had the same traumatic experience she was having because her scalp was sensitive. So told me that, but only through the crack in the door.
Through this whole play-by-play of a 10 minute moment with my sister, you can probably tell that I don't like the way things are. I wish we could be closer, or at least have normal conversations with one another that aren't through text or inanimate objects. But in all likelihood, I don't think we'll ever get past that invisible wall between us. It makes me sad to see my friends and family with their sisters and know that that probably won't ever happen with me and my sister. I won't make the first move and.. I don't think she will either.
 Anyway, we arrived at the party early and my cousin still needed help setting up so of course we pitched in. I decorated everything nicely with care. It made me think that I wouldn't mind being a party planner. It's fun. And I'd be great at it.
Once people started arriving and the grill fired up I realized that there was basically only meat to eat. So I ate some chips and waited to be taken home. I ended up facepainting for the party. I originally didn't want to but I needed something to distract me from my hunger and after doing a tester on my other cousin I found out that I really liked it. I did a few eye designs and I made two kids look like Spiderman, another like Ironman, a third like a tiger (a realistic-looking one too!), and I can't even remember the rest. It was so much fun. I figure I had fun because one, it's painting and two, the kids weren't fussy haha. I'll put up pictures later.
On Sunday I had to wear my new black and silver heels for YMS practice. It was so awkward. I feel like I walk horribly in them but no one said anything so I guess I was okay.
Plans are finalizing for the upcoming Field Day event. I'll be really sad if this fails. It's such a great idea. Hope for the best, I guess.
